Death Penalty before Court Appearance
Some criminals simply do not deserve a day in court.
In January of 2006, Ramon Hernandez Martinez was breaking into homes when police tried to apprehend him. In fleeing, he carjacked three separate cars and collided with at least three others injuring two people, all while shooting at police during his high speed chase. His final crash resulted in loss of control with his stolen pickup sliding into an irrigation canal where he was arrested. He had been using crack cocaine for several days and “just started doing crazy things” on the Phoenix area streets. Charges included aggravated assault, armed robbery, unlawful flight and multiple home invasions. While making a court appearance a couple of months later, he stabbed a deputy multiple times in the face with some sort of sharp object.
Born in Mexico in 1967, he came illegally to the States when he was 5 years old, schooled, working and living here ever since. His illustrious criminal career first came to attract legal attention in 1988 and he compiled an impressive rap sheet culminating in the aforementioned televised circus.
Consider this;
If the cops turn on their lights to stop you and you don’t immediately pull over, they might get a little irritated. If you accidentally run over the curb while stopping, they may suspect you are impaired (or stupid) and will want to get you out of the vehicle to assess your state of mind. If you refuse to stop at all, they have every right to do whatever it takes to change your mind. However, if you choose to flee and begin breaking laws it all changes. You just gave up any possible defense for your stupidity.
In a car chase, the perpetrator demonstrates a real and demonstrable disregard for public safety. This is no different than an armed criminal using a child hostage as a human shield. Our friend Ramon broke every law on the books, endangered every life in his path and was shooting at police cars while driving as fast as his stolen rides would go through heavily urban streets. Why was he arrested? He should have been killed as soon as the cops had a clear shot, even if he was swimming in the canal.
Instead, we see from the TV news copter video how he was pulled from the water and placed gingerly in a police car with handcuffs on.
If a cop has his weapon drawn and you lunge toward him, he’ll kill you. If a cop has his weapon drawn and you steer your car at him in an attempt to run him down, he’ll kill you. If you shoot at a cop, he’ll kill you. So, why, after committing all of these acts and finally getting arrested because of his lacking driving skills, was he then placed into custody? Is it any surprise he stabbed a deputy? Maybe he can be rehabilitated and released back into society after spending some time in one of the taxpayer-funded felony crime finishing schools that color our landscape coast to coast.
This guy is a one-man wrecking crew, victimizing anybody he could in a country that allows, condones and encourages criminal behavior by people who break the law simply by taking a breath of air on this side of the border. Why was he here at 5? Why was he here at 20 when he was first incarcerated? Why was he here after his first release from jail? Why was he working on the Phoenix Light Rail project, a government funded and operated project?
Maybe he’s just misunderstood and society is to blame.
